 Pupil's Area : House Results

At St. James', each and every pupil is allocated to a House upon joining the School (Lindsey, Blakeney and Walkerly). Throughout each year, there are numerous competitions between the houses and at the end of each year, there is an overall winner. In addition to the competitions, the houses also take part in various fundraising events for their chosen charities.

HOUSE CHARITY FUND RAISING 2008

This year, Blakeney House have been particulary successful at fund raising for Guide Dogs.  We have had A Cake Stall which raised about 30 pounds, an Easter Egg Raffle which raised 30 pounds and a Slave Auction organised by the Blakeney Year 11 and Sixth Form.  This raised an excellent 72 pounds and the services of the slaves were appreciated by those pupils who bought their services. The services ranged from doing homework to joining in with the playground kick-about at break and lunchtime. This total amount means another guide dog (our fourth) can be trained, allowing another blind or partially sighted person an independent life.

Walkerly House has been actively supporting Macmillan Cancer Support. We have raised over a hundred pounds for the charity with the help of the other Heads of Houses and Mr. Hampson. They all took part in a sponsored silence. Students have been encouraged to support the 'We Are Macmillan' campaign in their local Somerfield. To encourage charitable efforts, a more holistic approach has been taken in House Assemblies. Thematic assemblies, using anniversaries, event days and even 'Thought of the Day' from Radio 4 have been positively received.

Lindsey House have been raising money for The British Heart Foundation, with events including a sponsored skip. We also supported The Deborah Skin Charity.
