 Grimsby 11+ Centre

St. James' is now associated with the Grimsby Crammer Course, a very popular GCSE and A Level revision course that has been running at the School for over twenty years. Over the last year, we have received an ever increasing number of enquiries for 11 + tuition and revision courses, so we have now decided to start such a scheme.
There is a huge pressure on parents to ensure that they give their children every possible chance of securing
a place at a Grammar School, but they are often uncertain both about the process of applying to a Grammar
School and about how to prepare their child for the actual 11+ examination papers. It IS hugely important
that children are prepared for this, but in a way, which is neither daunting nor stressful, and now is the time
to start the process for next October's entry tests, for entry into a Grammar School in September 2010.

St. James' School 11+ Centre offers you the following each year:

  • Staff who are able to explain the whole application process, whichever Grammar School/s you wish
to apply to Caistor, Louth, Alford, Gainsborough, Horncastle or Skegness. This will also be an
excellent opportunity for you to learn how you can help your child at home, by alleviating any
potential anxieties. You may make as many visits to this Centre until you are confident about the
    whole process.
  • Five Saturday morning sessions when a teacher will explain to your child what the tests entail and how to prepare for them. The aim of these sessions is to enable your child to be familiar
and feel confident about sitting the tests themselves. This will be your opportunity to go shopping
and to leave your child in our care. Refreshments will be provided for the children and the mornings
will also contain a short break of relaxation, all under close supervision.
  • On two Saturdays before the examinations, from 9:30 to 12:00, your child will do practice papers in examination conditions to prepare him/her for the actual event of sitting the papers in what will be both unfamiliar and possibly stressful surroundings.
  • The cost of this wholepackage, including all 7 two and a half hour sessions, is £150.00, which works out at less an 10 pounds per hour! If you would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Becky Lane (Tel No. 01472 503273).

You can still take advantage of the course, please complete the application form to book a place for your son/daughter.
