Please read the accompanying letter from Mrs Isaac:

Dear Parent,

I have much pleasure in, at long last, being able to let you have the complete copy of the ISI Inspection Report. As you know, we were inspected over a period of four days by eight Inspectors. Not a stone was left unturned and I feel that the final report is a very fair and perceptive reflection of all that we do at St. James' in educating children from the age of two right the way through to eighteen.

We are absolutely delighted with the report since it confirms that we are doing a really good job! You will see that all of the judgements are either good or outstanding. Importantly, too, we have already responded to the three recommendations made by the inspectors on page 18 of the report:

Next Steps 1 and 2. Middle managers were immediately given the task of monitoring teaching and learning, particularly with the aim of ensuring that pupils of all abilities are stretched to their full potential. We have always been acutely aware of the wide range of ability within St. James' and middle managers have now high-lighted one or two areas which need to be addressed to ensure that the brightest children are not just given more 'of thesame' work, but are given extension tasks which 'stretch them' further. We have written a document to explain our academic results and if you wish to receive a copy, please contact Becky Lane.

Next Step 3. We have come a very long way since the last inspection in 2003 in developing the use of ICT and are grateful to the inspectors for showing us ways in which the pupils can use ICT to further engage in independent work. Training is now being introduced to ensure that all teachers apply such methodology.

The Early Years report in the final section of the ISI Report is equally pleasing. Again, the only recommendation about achieving consistency in regard to procedures in the Day Care Unit has already been addressed and I am delighted by the excellent work Deborah Bishop and her team are doing for these little people!

I hope you enjoy reading the report and are satisfied with its findings. If there is any aspect of the report about which you are unsure or require further elaboration, please do not hesitate to contact me.

With kind regards,

Yours sincerely,
