SPONSORED SWIM

Well done to all the children who took part in our fundraising sponsored swim on September 29th at Scartho Swimming Baths. Lots of energy and effort went into the morning and it was all worthwhile. We managed to raise over 600 pounds! Many thanks to the children (of course!) and to all parents and friends who sponsored someone.

CAKE STALL FOR GHANA

Last week we held a cake stall for all children in the Preparatory Department. It proved extremely popular with the children and quite a few staff were seen handing over money in return for anything chocolatey. This was organised by Prep 6 who did a fantastic job in both advertising the event and running the cake stalls on the day. Parents very kindly made/donated cakes for us to sell - thank you. Particularly noticeable was a fantastic cake which had been decorated to show school colours and said 'St. James' Ghana Appeal' on it (plus 12 smaller cakes). Special thanks to Mrs. Taylor for this. We raised over 100 pounds to put towards our ongoing sponsorship of the Adumasa Primary School in Ghana.

SPORTS NEWS

Very well done to our Under 11 Boys' football team who went through the ESFA Small Schools Tournament for Grimsby Schools unbeaten, winning three and drawing two matches. The team needed to win its last match to ensure finishing first but fell behind to an early goal. They fought tremendously hard and equalised but, despite creating some good chances, could not score the winning goal. This draw was not quite good enough to win the competition but it was good enough for us to qualify as runners-up and go forward to the next stage of the event. FANTASTIC!!!

The squad was; Hamish Falconer (captain), Sam Amirbashiri, Sam Burke,

Harry Falconer, Joshua Farrell (goalkeeper), James Sopp, Rajan Tanda, Cameron Taylor.

The boys scored seven goals and only let in two in the 5 games.
